We’ve recently received this update on upcoming ‘Wait No More’ events from our friends at Focus on the Family:

Right now, more than 127,000 legal orphans in the U.S. foster care system are waiting for adoptive families to call their own.  There are also more than 300,000 churches in the United States.  So, why are there still waiting children when God has given Christians a clear command to care for His orphan children?

At Focus on the Family, we believe that every child deserves a permanent family.  For too long, children and youth in foster care have been overlooked and forgotten.  That’s why, through our Wait No More events, we’re collaborating with government officials, adoption agencies, church leaders and ministry partners to raise awareness of and recruit families for waiting kids in foster care. Through half day events and targeted media campaigns, Wait No More is highlighting the urgent need for adoptive parents.

To date through six events and an online campaign in Colorado, more than 1,000 families have started the process of adoption from foster care. Additional events are planned around the country including Dallas, TX (November 13) and Atlanta, GA (February 26), all in the hopes that children and youth in foster care will Wait No More for the forever families they deserve.  Visit www.iCareAboutOrphans.org for more information on how you and your church can be involved.
