Orphan Sunday 2011 Campaign Has Begun!

By aotani on July 28, 2011

It has begun!  The 2011 Orphan Sunday campaign officially launched yesterday.   We pray that once again it will be an opportunity for passionate individuals to grow both awareness and action for the fatherless in their churches and communities.

Last year, more than 250,000 Christians joined in local Orphan Sunday events.  No wonder Christianity Today could write earlier this month of the “burgeoning orphan care movement.”  We anticipate even greater impact this year, and energy is building.  Already, locally-led events and activities are being planned from Kansas to Kiev, from Minnesota to Manila.

One meaningful new element this year is The Orphan’s Table.   A family, home group or church can share a simple orphan meal together…paired with reflection and prayer.  Anyone requesting it will be mailed an easy-to-cook meal package—the same food provided to feed orphans worldwide—along with Orphan Sunday resources, including a prayer and discussion guide.

Alongside local events, Orphan Sunday 2011 will feature the opportunity to join Christians worldwide via webcast for the LIVE from Kansas City hour of GUIDED PRAYER for the fatherless, along with WORSHIP led by Jon Egan of the Desperation Band.

For free Orphan Sunday resources and materials, event ideas, and more, see the Orphan Sunday Website.   And share your own ideas and plans on the new Orphan Sunday Facebook page!
