Gandalf Speaks to the CAFO2020 Theme: Video Clip

Gandalf-2

In a poignant moment of the movie, The Hobbit, the elf queen Galadriel asks Gandalf why he chose such a small and thoroughly unimpressive creature as Bilbo Baggins to play a central role in the great quest to vanquish a dragon and reclaim the kingdom under the mountain.

“Why the halfling?” she questions.

Gandalf’s answer reflects the age-old Christian truth revealed in a pregnant teenage virgin … a shepherd boy turned king … fishermen disciples … and most of all, the Bethlehem stable.

“Saruman believes it is only great power that can hold great evil in check.  But that is not what I have found.  I have found it is the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay.  Simple acts of kindness and love…”

This is the truth at the heart of the CAFO2020 theme, “Small Matters:  Little Things Can (Re)Make a Life.”  Join us there May 6 in Dallas — you can register HERE…
