Secondary trauma and constant stress are everyday challenges for child welfare professionals and volunteer advocates, often leading to burnout and high turnover – making it harder for kids to get the consistent support they need. Socialight<\/a> offers care and encouragement to social workers and GALs or CASAs each month through simple gestures that remind them they’re not alone. How does it work?<\/h5>\n\t\t\t

Organizations commit to implementing a monthly touchpoint with social workers and volunteer advocates (such as GALs or CASAs) enrolled in the Socialight Program. This can look like mailing notes of encouragement, sending donuts to the agency offices, providing regular prayer support, or hosting in-person events to shower child welfare professionals with encouragement. For smaller communities, social workers can also be paired 1:1 with a volunteer for personalized support.<\/p>\n

Social workers and CASAs can enroll in the program through a form. Once they sign up, a team member follows up with a standardized welcome email and a volunteer writes them a welcome note. (Examples of the form and welcome email can be shared)<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

What impact has this model made?<\/h5>\n\t\t\t

Increased support and stability for social workers directly affects outcomes for children. Research shows that foster children with one consistent social worker achieve permanency 74.5% of the time-compared to just 17.5% when there is social worker turnover (National Center on Crime and Delinquency). By strengthening the system around frontline workers, this model helps reduce burnout and creates the consistency children and families need.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

How much will it cost?<\/h5>\n\t\t\t

There is no initial cost for the program implementation and the program itself is flexible enough to work with just about any budget. The cost of each touchpoint with social workers can range from $1\/social worker to drop off donuts to $40\/social worker for a large event with meals, giveaways, and more.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

Who needs to be involved?<\/h5>\n\t\t\t

Organizations should plan to have a staff member or lead volunteer commit to 5-15 hours of administrative program management per week. Organizations should also have relationships and buy-in from local agencies to successfully launch the program.<\/p>\n

Each supported county has a designated agency liaison – typically a supervisor – who serves as our point of contact. Each month, the liaison is sent information about upcoming events, which they then pass along to social workers in their county. Regular check-ins with the liaison also help to see if there are any specific needs their team is facing. Beyond that, the liaison role comes with no additional commitments.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

How long will it take to implement?<\/h5>\n\t\t\t

Once a partnership is established with local agencies, it typically takes about 2-3 weeks for full implementation and program set-up.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

Yes, the Socialight team offers hands-on support across various stages of implementation.<\/p>\n

1-on-1 calls are available for churches and organizations interested in learning more about Socialight.<\/p>\n

Once someone decides to move forward with implementing, they gain access to a resource page, which includes a collection of downloadable materials that can be explored at their own pace.<\/p>\n

Group Zoom calls between implementing organizations are offered twice a year, typically ranging from 30 minutes to an hour, and dedicated calls for individual support are available as needed.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t
