Jeff is the founder of Eastern European Outreach (now called Mercy Projects) and left home at 21 years old to smuggle bibles behind the Iron Curtain. He is the author of “Leaving The American Sector” and works with over 1000 orphans and at-risk children in Ukraine, Russia, Kosovo, and Armenia.
Jeff’s story begins by being caught with bibles at the East German border and eventually being banned from the Soviet Union before allowed back in 1990. He spent 8 years in the 90’s teaching God’s Word in 59 Youth Prisons across Russia, Siberia and the Far East. This marked the beginning of the Mercy Projects ministry to orphans and at-risk children.
He has been married to wife Paula for 32 years and has 4 children and 6 grandchildren. They work with at-risk children and human trafficking, and volunteer in their community with Safe Families For Children (www.safe-families.org) providing homes and assistance to keep young people out of foster care.
