About the CAFO Summit
The CAFO Summit has become the national hub for what Christianity Today called, “the burgeoning Christian orphan care movement.” CAFO2017 will see approximately 2,500 foster and adoptive parents, orphan advocates, pastors and leaders from over 25 countries. Together, we explore effective foster care, adoption, family preservation and global orphan ministry.
CAFO2017 will include unforgettable plenary sessions with top national and global speakers, stirring music, workshops, and an array of one-of-a-kind experiences you won’t find anywhere else. Join both laypeople and leaders from across America and around the world at Brentwood Baptist on May 4 – 5, 2017 in Nashville, TN.
CAFO Summit History
The vision for the Christian Alliance for Orphans was birthed at the first “Summit” in 2004 in Little Rock, AR. There, 30 some Christian leaders expressed a shared sense that God desired to rouse his church to care for orphans – and was calling them to “leave logos and egos at the door” and join in unified efforts to grow this vision.
Summit became an annual gathering, and attendance grew remarkable each year. Between each Summit, an array of new partnerships began to grow among CAFO members – from national media campaigns to resource sharing among small agencies.
CAFO officially incorporated in 2007, led by a highly-engaged working Board. In 2009, the Board appointed a full-time President to lead a small but dedicated staff.
CAFO’s outsized impact continues to flow especially from the behind-the-scenes service and support of CAFO members and volunteers. This efficient, collaborative approach continues to fuel all CAFO initiatives.
Today, more than 180 formerly competitive organizations and a wide network of churches unite as a highly-effective coalition through CAFO. Together, their collaborative work and joint initiatives have made CAFO both a hub and a catalyst for the Christian orphan care movement.
