Care Sharing

Requesting Agencies (child welfare agencies, schools, pregnancy centers, and non-profit organizations) working directly with families input vetted needs into the system. These needs are shared directly with local churches and partners and posted publicly on CarePortal.org. Responders (churches, organizations, businesses, and individual advocates) can indicate how they’ll help meet that particular need.

For churches, there is no cost to use the platform. For Requesting Agencies, software fees apply which are based on the agency type and population size served. Click here to see specific fees.

Various ongoing costs may include training, support, and community engagement efforts. 

To launch CarePortal in a location where it does not currently exist, Churches, Requesting Agencies, and a Regional Manager would be required to get started and  network development capacity would be required to get started. 

In some cases, CarePortal staff may have capacity to own the vision casting and recruitment. Other times, local individuals or organizations may be interested in assisting with helping in this way and CarePortal can provide high level support and training. 

Implementing Partners, established local organizations who build and maintain the local CarePortal network through training and relationship-building, can also be engaged, but are not required to launch.

Community Champions, who provide additional resources and support, are also not required for launch but are encouraged.

While government or agency partnerships can enhance implementation, they are not required. The CarePortal model is flexible and can be adapted to local contexts with or without formal contracts.

Implementation typically lasts about 9-18 months, including a Research Phase (lasting 3-6 months) and Pilot Phase (lasting 6-12 months). An additional Growth Phase continues after the 12 month mark and beyond.

This timeline can depend on local relationships, community favor, and organizational capacity.

*Community Champion: A business, organization, or individual in the community who wants to help vulnerable kids. They see requests and respond by providing funds or resources, which are used by local churches to connect with families at the point of care.

Yes – each local Church, Champion, or Implementation Partner is connected to and trained by local network leaders and by the CarePortal Training team member associated with their area.

CarePortal is a church and community empowerment platform. It exists to mobilize Christian churches that affirm the CS Lewis Foundation Statement of Faith and the Apostles’ Creed to care for vulnerable children and families, stimulating life-changing relational connections in the process. The example and teachings of Jesus fuel everything we do.

At the same time, CarePortal brings together diverse constituents – government agencies, businesses, schools, and other faith-based ministries – to accomplish a shared mission of caring for vulnerable children and families. There is a place at the table for everyone. Our church and community focus is on the child.

At CarePortal, we prioritize the confidentiality and privacy of every family served through our platform. All information shared within CarePortal originates exclusively from the vetted request submitted by an approved caseworker. CarePortal does not access, collect, or store any personal information about children or families beyond what the caseworker chooses to include in their request. 

This means that we do not request or retain sensitive personally identifying information such as names, addresses, social security numbers, or other identifying information.

All data on the platform is limited to the context of the approved need, ensuring families’ dignity and security are upheld. Caseworkers maintain full control over what is shared, and all users interacting with CarePortal are expected to honor this confidentiality. This approach aligns with our mission to serve vulnerable children and families with care, discretion, and respect.
