Extending Collaboration Across Borders
Each year, leaders gather for Collaborate as a pre-Summit intensive at CAFO Summit. Through Collaborate+, that same shared experience extends into local communities around the world.
Collaborate+ invites Global Network members to host a gathering in their own region — connected live to Collaborate and actively engaging leaders in their context.
It is one global gathering — expressed locally.

Collaborate Locally
Rather than simply watching from afar, Collaborate+ hosts actively lead and shape their own gathering while remaining connected to the shared global experience.
This allows leaders who cannot travel to still participate meaningfully — strengthening collaboration within their own networks while staying connected globally.
Local Hosts:
- Gather leaders within their region
- Facilitate contextual discussion
- Participate in live sessions from Collaborate
- Include local speakers, sessions and content to catalyze the local network’s projects and goals
- Contribute their voices and perspectives to the global conversation
Collaborate+ Options
Global Network members can participate in Collaborate locally in ways that fit their context and capacity.
Some networks choose to host a fully facilitated gathering, bringing leaders together for contextual learning while engaging live with the global Collaborate forum. Others gather smaller groups to watch, reflect and discuss key insights together.
Both approaches create meaningful opportunities to strengthen relationships, share learning and advance collaboration within your local community.
Collaborate+ Hosting Guide
This guide is intended to provide targeted coaching, resources and information you will need as you plan your local Collaborate+ event. This is your event, and our hope is that any content we provide will be contextualized as needed for your local culture. We look forward to walking alongside you in preparation for Collaborate+.
Collaborate+ includes connecting LIVE to the Collaborate global forum (a CAFO Pre-Summit intensive) as well as the Research Symposium.
Collaborate+ Host Cohort
Along with the Hosting Guide, you’ll participate in a 6-month preparation cohort with your peer hosts. During the monthly Cohort calls, you will learn relevant hosting information (What’s Important Now), hear from CAFO initiative leaders on key topics (fundraising, marketing, event planning and more), and participate in discussions with your peer leaders who are hosting in their countries.
Host Cohort participants may apply for a matching mini-grant to support local fundraising for their event. Grants are limited in number and amount and include eligibility requirements.
Small-Group Facilitator Training
Collaborate+ includes a local DISCUSS session, where your attendees gather in small groups to work through a challenge question regarding how to apply the concepts they are learning within your local context. CAFO offers Facilitator Training Guides and helps train your local facilitators to effectively lead these sessions and submit your local results to be shared and discussed LIVE on the Collaborate global forum stream.
