How to Apply

Gather three additional collaborators in your community and design a strategic project that's too big for any of you to do alone. Two of the four collaborators in your group should represent churches. Then apply for a project grant below. You will:

Design your project and draft answers to the application questions together.

Determine what size grant you are applying for.

Select one person to submit the application on behalf of the group.

What types of projects are eligible for this grant?

Project grants from More Than Enough fuel collaborations of churches, organizations, and advocates like you attempting to launch projects that no one organization could accomplish alone. This means projects should:

Be a shared project with specific goals held across organizations, rather than an ongoing program on one organization's strategic plan.
Be led by a clear project team that includes representatives from all the main collaborative partners.
Be designed to address a specific challenge in foster care where you live.

In addition, this matching grant focuses on projects that will help communities provide more than enough:

Foster and kinship families for every child to have an ideal placement.
Adoptive families for every child waiting for adoption.
Help for biological families trying to stabilize and reunify.
And wrap-around support from the church for all of these families.

Do I have to be working in the U.S. to apply for a grant?

What do you mean by collaboration?

Project grants are intended for collaborations working together in a single community. Each collaboration should have at least four key leaders.

Each group member must represent a different organization, church, agency, or group.
At least two group members must represent a church. This can be a pastor, associate pastor, ministry leader, or volunteer.
Each group member must live in or close to the county or community they are working in.
Each group member must be willing to commit to project development and execution.

Once you identify these core collaborators and they agree to join, each of you will complete an MOU to formally launch your project grant.

What are the timelines and reporting requirements?

The More Than Enough Project Grant will last one year. Your application will outline major project milestones and goals over the course of that year. We will notify applicants if they have been awarded a grant by Friday, November 8th, and all final reporting will be turned in by November 31st, 2025. Final reporting will detail the progress made during one year, but it is okay for projects and programs launched to continue past that time frame.

In November and December of this year, grant recipients will begin fundraising, complete all initial paperwork, and meet with our team. The goal is for all fundraising to be complete and for projects to launch in January of 2025, but if necessary we will work together to determine appropriate fundraising deadlines during those initial meetings.

Over the course of the grant each group will complete:

Group Reflections: Three times over the course of the grant, your collaboration will complete a reflection packet together to share how your project is unfolding. These are the check-in requirements. March, June, September
Connection Calls: In these three required calls, you will gain unique insights and encouragement from other collaborators across the US working on similar projects. While at least one person from each collaboration is required to attend, all group members are welcome. February, May, August
Learning Calls: These are optional, but encouraged for as many members of the collaboration as can attend! Three optional small group calls will give you access to coaching in church engagement, data, and fundraising. January, April, July

Note: There are no requirements for October or November 2025 aside from the final reporting.

What are the funding requirements?

This is a 1:1 matching grant and you will be required to fundraise as part of the grant process. For example, if a group selects a $5,000 matching grant, they will also raise $5,000 to launch a $10,000 project.

Each group will select which funding amount is necessary for their project. The available grant amounts are:

$5,000 ($10,000 project total)
$7,500 ($15,000 project total)
$10,000 ($20,000 project total)
$15,000 ($30,000 project total)
$20,000 ($40,000 project total)

You will have three months to complete the matching fundraising, but our team can work with each collaboration to establish specific deadlines based on the nature of the project.
