In the latest video release from the Pure Religion Project, Alex Ilie from Romania Without Orphans Alliance shares his perspective on adoption as a means of discipleship and a way to reflect God’s heart. He explains how deeply adoption has ingrained itself into the culture of his church and beyond, and describes his family’s adoption story not as one of sacrifice, but as one of deep blessing and enrichment.

“We are not an extraordinary family. We are very limited and sinful and imperfect. But what I want to make sure is clear is that we do what we do because around us there are more than a hundred people supporting and helping us in ways we couldn’t even imagine. Pure religion is not only for those who adopt, but for everyone in the church. God never intended for us to live safe lives, lives we can manage with our own resources and wisdom. He intended for us to live in such a way that the only possible explanations are either that God exists and is very real, or that we are crazy people. And I think that is Pure Religion.”
