Position Summary: Establishes initial contact with prospective adoptive families for the International program. Works with prospective adoptive families in processing international adoption.

Essential Duties:

  • Helps recruit, enroll, maintain, and work with prospective adoptive parents in processing an international adoption

Position Title: Social Worker

Position Summary: Serves as initial contact and interviews with expectant mothers considering an adoption plan or parenting plan. Provides coaching services to birth parents. Handles initial contact and interview with prospective adoption families for the international and domestic programs. Facilitates the placement of children in domestic and international adoptions while working with the family. Establishes and maintains contact with networking opportunities for our ministry. Serves as liaison with community, church, local pregnancy centers, educating staff, families, and clients.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors Degree in Social Work
    • Adoption Experience preferred
    • Master’s Degree in Social Work and 2 years child placement services preferred

Pregnancy Counseling: 

  • Initial contact and interview with client.
  • Counseling clients concerning the options they have regarding adoption.
  • Obtaining information concerning the putative father and his feelings about the situation.
  • If the biological parents are minors, the worker will arrange for appointment of a guardian ad litem.
  • Assisting the birth mother in arranging for prenatal care and hospital admission for delivery.
  • Determining availability of private health insurance or assisting clients with obtaining Medicaid.
  • Maintaining regular contacts with client to provide counseling during and after delivery, including facilitating a good working relationship with the client.
  • Providing the client the means for spiritual growth, including the ministry of evangelism and discipleship, in a non-threatening way.
  • Serving as an advocate for the client’s best interest.
  • Explaining to the client the legal process of terminating parental rights and respecting her right to withdraw her relinquishments if within the legal period allowed.
  • Visiting client in the hospital after delivery to have mother sign paperwork permitting discharge of the baby from the hospital.
  • Facilitate the adoptive home placement of the child under the direction of the Casework Supervisor.
  • Be available for post-adoption counseling of the birth parents.
  • Maintain detailed records of contacts, including case notes, assessments, court documents, legal papers, time sheets, medical and family history, and other required paperwork.
  • Serving as an advocate for the child’s best interest.
  • Maintain relationships with local attorneys.
  • Assisting in agency-related events, including the annual banquet.

Adoption Awareness (Crisis Pregnancy Centers, hospitals, schools, correctional facilities):

  • Build upon existing and historical relationships while highlight Lifeline Children’s Services in comparison to local attorneys and other adoption agencies.
  • Educate directors, staff, and volunteers to the services offered by Lifeline Children’s Services for adoption minded expectant parents, including medical care, counseling, maternity homes, and the quality of Christian adoptive families that are available – focus on a staff member to help provide adoption counseling to girls including the Lifeline video.  Foster good will between the ministries, emphasizing teamwork in a common goal to reach expectant parents with the truth of Christ and abortion.
  • Develop counselor training and adoption awareness presentation and material.  Assist in adoption-related counselor training.  Ensure that the affiliates have the necessary resource material about adoption and Lifeline Children’s Services.
  • Receive positive and negative feedback from affiliates to improve on Lifeline’s programs and ministry.
  • Help with marketing initiatives to promote Lifeline’s ministry both on the development side and awareness side.
  • Pursue relationships with electronic and print media, and encourage favorable coverage of adoption issues and ministry profiles.
  • Pursue opportunities to speak in to speak in churches about the Biblical alternative of adoption and the success of Lifeline Children’s Services and encourage financial support of the ministry whenever possible and the situation presented.

Social Worker – Adoption Assessments:

  • Initial contact and interview with prospective adoptive families through the international, domestic, and Kansas adopt only ministries.
