Summary of Role:

Description of Duties

Spiritual Care Specialist - Children of the Nations - International/Silverdale, WA

General Description 
The International Spiritual Care Specialist position exists to provide support to COTN’s implementing
countries by assisting with strategy and methodology to meet established standards of service. The
position also seeks to facilitate communication and collaboration with COTN’s Operational Branch
regarding Spiritual Care programs and projects.
**This is a support-raising position with a stipend.**

Job Description Detail:
 Research potential program ideas (evangelism and spiritual development) to present to
implementing countries.
 Assist with strategic planning/goal setting and budgeting processes in each country, as outlined,
to ensure alignment to reach identified spiritual care end result.
 Communicate with supervisor, implementing staff as assigned, liaisons and International office
staff, keeping open lines of communication.
 Oversee spiritual care budget and spiritual care projects as outlined.
 Identify and develop relationships with partnering organizations to assist in meeting strategic
goals of the spiritual care programs in each country.
 Work collaboratively with COTN partnering organizations and International branch staff to
develop training modules & training plans for implementing countries.
 Advocate for spiritual needs of children in COTN’s programs – Children’s Homes, VPP and
University/Vocational.
 Assist with ongoing edits and development of spiritual care standards of service, criteria for
evaluation, formal assessments, training opportunities, and best practice development.
 Travel to COTN implementing countries, as needed, to assist with training, evaluation of current
programs, formal standards of service assessments, staff development, etc.

Skills and Qualifications:
 2-5 years’ experience in children’s or youth ministry
 BA degree (or higher) in Christian ministry or related field
 Strong organizational abilities including planning, program development, assessment and
evaluation

  • Build upon existing and historical relationships while highlight Lifeline Children’s Services in comparison to local attorneys and other adoption agencies.
  • Educate directors, staff, and volunteers to the services offered by Lifeline Children’s Services for adoption minded expectant parents, including medical care, counseling, maternity homes, and the quality of Christian adoptive families that are available – focus on a staff member to help provide adoption counseling to girls including the Lifeline video.  Foster good will between the ministries, emphasizing teamwork in a common goal to reach expectant parents with the truth of Christ and abortion.
  • Develop counselor training and adoption awareness presentation and material.  Assist in adoption-related counselor training.  Ensure that the affiliates have the necessary resource material about adoption and Lifeline Children’s Services.
  • Receive positive and negative feedback from affiliates to improve on Lifeline’s programs and ministry.
  • Help with marketing initiatives to promote Lifeline’s ministry both on the development side and awareness side.
  • Pursue relationships with electronic and print media, and encourage favorable coverage of adoption issues and ministry profiles.
  • Pursue opportunities to speak in to speak in churches about the Biblical alternative of adoption and the success of Lifeline Children’s Services and encourage financial support of the ministry whenever possible and the situation presented.
