On July 4th, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, a feature film about what’s possible when a community works together to care for vulnerable children, is headed to theaters!
Inspired by the incredible true story, Possum Trot follows Donna and Bishop W.C. Martin as they ignite a movement of compassion in their small East Texas church to care for children who needed foster and adoptive families, leading the charge to prove that faith, community and perseverance have the power to change the lives of children everywhere.
This story has been an integral part of the CAFO community for over a decade.
Martin shared his story at CAFO Summit in May 2013, when he was interviewed by Family Life Radio. Martin described the way his church and community were transformed when 85 families came together to foster children. Ultimately 76 children who needed permanent families were adopted.
“If God calls you to this particular ministry, you’re gonna catch some slack and you’re gonna catch some problems,” Martin said, “but ultimately you shall be victorious over everything – because if what’s laid out says it can’t be, with God it can be.”
