In 2009, when US Airways Flight 1549 lost both engines over the Hudson River, something remarkable happened. Captain Sully and First Officer Jeff Skiles didn’t try to handle the crisis alone. They communicated constantly, relied on one another, and pulled in help from air traffic control and first responders. The “miracle” wasn’t one heroic pilot—it was a team working together.

Adoptive families are no different. Even the strongest parents hit moments when they can’t fly solo.  And the miracle often comes when they say, “I need help here,” and a community shows up.

Today, we’re talking about the power of asking for help—and giving help—to the adoptive families who need it most.

Two experts, Dr. Melody Aguayo and Traci Newell, a licensed social worker supervisor and the Director of Church-Based Programs at Lifeline Children’s Services, will share both practical ways churches can support adoptive families and their personal stories about what made a real difference in their own lives.
